700 female interaction ideas in only 3 days

21-06-2010

How can a mobile phone headset, a multimedia player or a climate control be innovated to fit to female values and female way of thinking and living?

On 3 multidisciplinary ideation workshops a total of 30 participants transformed the female interaction potentials revealed in the user exploration into a wealth of new ideas. For this occasion the female interaction team was extended with developers and marketing specialists from  B&O, GN Netcom & Danfoss. The co-creation process applied at the workshops was designed to convert the insight and viewpoints of the different participants into creative energy. In a groupwise ideation everybody contributed to new ideas on how to let female values and preferences be a jumping board to making even better high-tech products. The ideation proces was focused and stimulated by a combination of user video's, personas, situation cards and desired female experiences.

Now the female interaction team is busy with a clustering and maturation of the ideas. The next step is to let the designers transform the ideas into the best possible female interaction design concepts.

”This project is founded on the thesis that women have special use preferences in connection with advanced, electronic products. And it will be interesting to see whether this thesis will prove correct,” says Søren Hesseldahl from Danfoss where they develop climate-control systems for the home.
